Centenary Sprint Cup Race Information

The Centenary Sprint Cup is a 1200 metre race for three-year-olds and upwards run by the Hong Kong Jockey Club in January. It is held at Sha Tin on the same day as the Group 1 Stewards’ Cup.

Centenary Sprint Cup Race History

The race was first held on 24 November 1984 as the Centenary Cup to celebrate the centenary of The Hong Kong Jockey Club. It became the first leg of the Hong Kong Speed Series in the 2005-2006 season and in 2016 the distance was increased from 1000m to 1200m. It was upgraded to Group 1 status in 2018.

It is held on the same day as the Group 1 Stewards’ Cup over 1600m.
